Apologies for being a bit late on the uptake, but we thought it couldn't hurt to remind the locals that you may have a rather rare bird lurking around your garden!

The bird in question is an Oriental Turtle Dove, of the race 'orientalis'.
Sadly, it doesn't appear to have been spotted since 18th December 2010, but it may well be worth keeping an eye out for it! According to various sources, the last time this bird was seen in the UK was in Cornwall, 2005. Further information on the species can be found here.
