The Frio Coldshoe Adaptor is compatible with just about anything that has a male hotshoe connector - microphones, LED light pangels, monitors, tripods, GorillaPods, HD Rigs - and will enable you to fit the coldshoe to anything with a male 1/4" -20 standard tripod stud.
Made from metal, (plastic threads are a bad idea), custom-designed, extremely secure, and at affordable prices, you can own several of them! We photographers are always leaving various bits of kit at home, but the Frio is compact, discreet and it'll fit in all of those handy little pockets that camera bags seem to have so many of. Own a couple of lightstands? Lightstand with a tripod? No more relying on makeshift doo-daa'hs to keep your equipment stable. Plus, it's a wonderful replacement for any old coldshoe's your stands might have worn down over the years.
As mentioned, the Frio is universally compatible - even with the 'frankly bizarre' Nikon SB900 Flashgun! Although it won't work with Sony and Minolta hotshoes - yet! - it will work with the Canon 580EXII. It won't work quite the way we'd like it to, but frankly, that's supposedly because the 580EXII has 'muffin hips' - it's ok, it's not impossible, you just have to use a bit more force to engage the pin lock. The Frio will still keep your 'Exy' perfectly safe.
The Frio Coldshoe Adaptor is available from Morris Photo at £12.98 here.
You can learn more about the Frio at the official website here.
