Jeremy Clarkson to host 8th Auction of Promises;

Friday 13th July - is unlucky for some - but not for the lovely people at The Lido in Chipping Norton! Jeremy Clarkson has agreed to host another Auction of Promises for them. Ken Norman is again organising the annual event that has earned us over £100,000 since the first in 2004 and we are after lots for Mr Clarkson to auction. If you can offer something that we can sell at The Auction please e-mail Ken at events@chippylido.co.uk

Tickets are on sale at JaffĂ©  & Neale - you can give them a call on 01608 641033.

"We are delighted that Jezza is returning for his eighth outing as auctioneer for The Lido. The journalist, author, broadcaster, Top Gear presenter and all round top-banana has been an active supporter of The Lido right from the word go and has even written about us in his Sunday Times column!"

And what does our local host think of it?

"The old town hall was stuffed to the gunwales with people who'd donated prizes. There were hundreds of them. I know because I was the auctioneer. "A jar of home- made jam, sold to you, sir, at the back. Two bags of dung. Who'll give me a tenner?" It was a fantastic evening.

My daughter, who was only seven at the time, got into the swing of things and helped her dad by bidding for things that wouldn't sell. We went home with a puncture repair kit and six signed copies of my own book. From memory, the evening raised £12,000, which was - with a bit of help from the town council - enough to keep the pool open for a year. So, 12 months later, we were back to do it again. And we’ve been back every year since."

It's looking to be a fantastic night - Morris Photographic are donating a 'Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 350AW" (a camera bag, of course), and we hope to see plenty of people there!

If you want to see which other items you can bid on, just pop over to their website and have a scroll through the prizes; http://www.chippylido.co.uk/auction
