When I unpacked this ultra-compact tripod in our delivery bay last week, I was a) a bit puzzled, and b) also a bit inspired. The range of tripods you typically get these days are catering for the chunkier DSLR's - aimed at rugged mountaineering, bogs & such other environments. The Velbon Cube is designed for the compact camera we tuck in our bags & pockets;- it's lightweight, stable, affordable & capable of holding 600g.
That's really quite neat when you think that the average compact camera weighs between 300 - 500g.
It's unique design means you can unfold the legs all in one go - if it's in its folded-up state, simply press the bottom of the three legs together and pull the legs out - there's a series of buttons on the widest part of the feet that enable you to release all the locking mechanisms in one go.
It also has a rather fascinating way of going about adjusting the head - it's a 'squeeze action' ball head, which means you don't have to worry about messing around with 2 levers, or a series of odd knobs in order to get your perfect shooting position. Simply squeeze the clamp on the side of the head, and enjoy a 190 degree flexibility.
You're more than welcome to pop into our showroom & try it out yourself, or they're available on our website for just £49.90;
