New Product - Tamron 70 - 300mm VC USD Lens.

Tamron's 70-300mm VC Lens is Tamrons Anniversary Lens - employing the advanced optical Low Dispersion (LD) and an Extra-Low Dispersion (XLD) lens element, the specialized materials are advertised as preventing chromatic abberation. The result is that the SP AF70-300mm F.4-5.6 Tamron lens now boasts even sharper contrast and a greater performance than before.

Additional features include the USD - Ultrasonic Silent Drive - and is the first Tamron lens to do so. Tamron's own technology blends together with the high standard construction of the lens to deliver fast focusing, which means it's a necessity for the photographer who tends to find himself at a sports event or racetrack. Naturally, you can photograph other fast moving objects too, but those are the ones that come to mind.

The Tamron 70-300mm VC Lens also brags Tamron's trademark Vibration Compensation (VC) image stabilisation. Also known as Image Stabilisation in some digital camera's, (Sigma calls it Optical Stabiliser, or 'OS'), and as I'm sure you know, it's rather convenient for hand-held photography, and not just at long focal lengths - it also works wonders in low lighting.

The powerful combination of Ultrasonic Silent Drive and Vibration Compensation results in a new milestone for Tamron technology. Weighing in at 765 grams - that's about 1.7 / 1.8 pounds - the weight's a bit of a drawback, but overall the aforementioned image stabilising features balance out the equation.
